Today we want to spotlight Ben McGarity and Hailey Simpson for all of their hard work and want to recognize them for receiving the FTK Award! These two wonderful staff members work on the Dancer Involvement Team, focusing specifically on Administration and Organization. Committee Applications are Still Being Accepted!

AUDM raised $65,995 last year and we plan to keep on growing and with higher expectations comes a need for a larger staff. If you have a talent for marketing, fundraising, or event planning, and an outgoing personality crazy spirit, or a knack for talking in front of large crowds, there is a place for you on the AUDM staff. But most importantly, if you have a heart for the kids and a desire to “party for a purpose,” you will find your home in the AUDM family. AUDM is so excited about the number of applicants we have received for AUDM Committees, but it’s not too late to still apply! Applications are due September 14 and are available at www.audancemarathon.com

The applications are to be returned to the AU Student Center, Room 3130, where you will sign up for your interview slot. Interviews will be held September 17-18. AUDM would love to have your fun loving spirit on our committees.

O-Days are next week!

Come out next week and visit the Auburn University Dance Marathon Staff on the concourse during O-days. The AUDM table will be located on the concourse in front of Haley and the Student Center. This will be a great opportunity for interested parities to get questions answered and be able to sign up to receive AUDM news in the future. AUDM staff will also explain more on how to get involved this upcoming semester by applying for a committee, applications that are avaliable now!

The AUDM tent will be out on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. The staff will be giving away water bottles and a few lucky visitors will receive AUDM sunglasses. Staff Spotlight

Winner of this weeks FTK recipient: CASEY RIGDON
Hometown: Madison, AL
Major: Chemical Engineering
Birthday: February 15
Hidden Talent: Piano Player!
Today, we would like to spotlight a special staff member for all of her hard work! Casey Rigdon is serving as the Director of Entertainment for AUDM this year and has spent all summer working on getting the best entertainment in the business to come out to the event! Of course, all of the entertainment will be a surprise until closer to the big day (don’t forget, it’s February 2nd!). And not all of her focus has been on planning, but also on fundraising! She sent letters out to her family and friends asking for their support and explaining why she stands for the kids who can’t. We can’t explain how great Casey has been thus far in the planning process, and we hope that you will join us for AUDM this year to enjoy all the hard work that the staff is doing!

Top 5 Reasons to Attend AUDM

Hello Everyone! Although I hope that you have never questioned the importance of attending the Auburn University Dance Marathon, but in case you need to convince a few friends of why it is so great, check out these Top Five Reasons!

1. It’s fun! The participants get to spend ALL DAY dancing, playing games, participating in contests and theme hours, and spending time with friends.

2. It benefits a local cause, which means that participants can actually see where and how they are making a difference. The families and children we help appreciate our involvement more than we could possibly understand, and they love knowing that we WANT to help them.

3. Participants have the opportunity to actually meet the children and their families, as well as hospital relations! This goes along with making a difference locally, but it truly puts it the whole event into perspective and demonstrates just how important our work is. Hearing from those who benefit from our work is also one of the most rewarding feelings in the world, so that’s just another great reason to attend!

4. It arouses school spirit! Different campus organizations can register as teams and compete against other organizations, or if a group of friends wants to create a team, they can compete too! All the teams work to win an award at the end of the event, and healthy competition is always good! So whether you are involved in Greek Life, SGA, service organizations, honor societies, or any of the other great groups on campus, this is a great way to give back to the community!

5. And finally, because everything we do is FOR THE KIDS (FTK)!! We’ve all grown up and know how vital good childhoods are in forming the people we are today, which is why we all work to create better lives for these kids and families at The Medical Center at Columbus Regional Healthcare System. They are depending on us to help them live life more fully.

And now that you know our Top Reasons to Attend AUDM, we want to hear yours! Feel free to tweet at @audancemarathon or write on our Facebook wall, we would love to hear what everyone has to say!
