We want to hear from you!
Hi Everyone! As many of you already know, the Dance Marathon Staff plans out the day of the event practically down to the minute, and that means including A LOT of details! And this year, we want your input on how to stand for those who can’t. Should we play games? Should we have contests? What do YOU want to do while you are participating?
Last year we had a great time with different theme hours, costume contests, group games, and various contests, but we know that there are more ideas out there! So let your creative juices flow and send us your best theme ideas, crazy games, and ways to stay standing!
Also, don’t forget to check out our pictures from last year and see all the fun we had standing for those who can’t!
For the kids!

History of Dance Marathons and the future of AUDM
Dance Marathon was started in 1973 at Pennsylvania State University the first year it raised $2,000. Today, it is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. Over 150 schools across the country raise money for Children’s Miracle Network hospitals in their communities. Students spend a year raising money through different fund raising events and interacting with the local children’s hospital, the patients and the families. The year culminates with a 12-40 hour long event where the students stay on their feet through dancing, games and entertainment in celebration of the total amount raised that year.
Auburn University Dance Marathon started a few years ago when Miss Auburn started a similar program on Auburn’s campus. However in 2011, AUDM went in a new direction and joined Children’s Miracle Network and partnered with Columbus Regional Medical Center in Columbus, Georgia. In the first year, the AUDM staff was able to raise $65,995.25 for the families. Setting a new record for the most raised by a first time dance marathon. AUDM is proud to represent every area of Auburn University’s Camus and community in an event that could potentially affect those we know close to home.
AUDM is on the fast track to being one of the top dance marathons in the country. The new staff has set goals and has the enthusiasm to reach them. The staff is excited for what this next year has to offer. Participants, students and the community have a lot to look forward to.
